Designing HackerEarthβs Culture book
I was a part of the team that redefined HackerEarthβs set of cultural values. With a growing company, we wanted to craft a culture code book that better reflected our team today and where we want to be. In the following case study iβll focus on the graphics designed.
We wanted to give this culture code book as a part of the onboarding kit to the new joiners that spoke about the story of HackerEarth and the value system it had.
The book was divided into four parts.
The origin story: It included how HackerEarth started and the early days of the company. The timeline of the company and how everything came together.
The HackerEarth way: This part defined the four important things each one at HackEarth was supposed to bring to the table.
HEβs value system: This was one of the most important one which defined the values we as a company put out.
The HackerEarthβs wall of fame: This had our awesome leadership who we wanted to introduce to the new joiners.
I started off with the mood board to define the direction i wished to take in. The color palette was easy to set because of the brand guidelines of hackerEarthβs design team βHexcodeβ
Designing the first two sections:
Designing for the value system:
Donβt be an a**hole.
Hunger of excellence
Customer obsession
Team> me
Disagree and commit
The graphics for these values were designed with negative space style, mostly inspired by Noma bar.
The leadership section aka βthe hall of fameβ
I wanted the images in this section to show both the fun part and the formal side of the leadership.
Overall, it was so much fun curating the contents for this section and designing.
Designing the cover page
I came up with a few ideas for the cover, the cover name also had a few iterations from the team:
